2020 February

Dear Friends,

What will you do with yours? With your extra day? One whole day. 24 hours. 1440 minutes. 86400 seconds! For that is what we will have on Saturday 29th February – with 2020 being a leap year.

On 29th February we will have one whole extra day to show and tell others how much God loves us and to talk about Jesus. It could be the start of something big for us as individuals, churches and the circuit. Why not try something new? If you have never prayed with another person – why not give it ago? Never tried prayer and fasting? Give it a go! Never told another person that you are a Christian and what your faith means to you? Give it a go! It’s a good day to take a leap of faith - after all, you won’t have wasted anything as it’s a bonus day!

And if you need some inspiration, on this extra day, Saturday 29th February, the District is putting on an event called 2020 Vision – a day to explore together what God is saying to us. It will be at Linacre Mission in Litherland, from 10am-4pm and we will have 4 amazing speakers: Trey Hall (the Connexional director of Mission and Growth – who will speak on Vision), Bev Mason (the Bishop of Warrington – who will speak on Discernment), Calvin Samuel (a Methodist Minister with a background in theological education – who will speak on Leadership), and Peter Handcock (another Methodist Minister who has experience of being church planter – who will speak on Mission & Growth.) They will each give a 20 minute keynote address and then lead a workshop to explore their theme – you are all invited and it would be good to see you there! You can book in at https://liverpoolmethodists2020vision.eventbrite.com or speak to a member of the Mission & Ministry Team.

Whatever you do or don’t do on your leap year day, remember that time is precious. We won’t get our time again – once it’s gone, it’s gone. Remember that it’s also finite – time, as we know it, will come to an end when Jesus returns. However, for those who put their trust in him, God promises eternal life in Christ Jesus.

So, far more important than how you spend one day on 29th February is: how will you spend the rest of eternity?

Rachel
